Eliza B.
Private tutor in Worthington, OH
Education
I have a PhD in American Studies from Harvard University, a masters from the University of Cambridge, and a bachelors degree from Penn State's Schreyer Honors College (where I studied English and history).
Experience
As a college professor, I very much enjoy teaching, and I've found that I am particularly good at working with students one-on-one. My teaching evaluations consistently point to the fact that I help students improve their writing. With that in mind, I am looking to work with students outside of the college classroom, and I would like to help students working on high school and college level writing assignments (for any subject). Additionally, I am available to help students who want guidance about the process of writing personal statements for college, fellowship, or grad school applications. Below, I have itemized some of my relevant experience: - Writing tutor at both Harvard University and Penn State University - Freshman writing instructor at Denison University and Penn State University - Writing Coach for Penn State's Undergraduate Fellowships Office (helped students writing personal statements for applications for Rhodes, Fulbright, Mellon fellowships, etc.) - Lecturer in Otterbein University's Religion Department, starting fall 2014; previously Visiting Assistant Professor in Religion Department at Wofford College (2011 - 2013) and Denison University (2013 - 2014) - Extensive experience working as an editor
